Free at last!
Tried the expatriate musician thing, Amsterdam 1993 - they want Archie Shepp - not a surrogate. After Bush stole his 1st election revisited Amsterdam 2002, attitudes now sour toward "Amerikaners" whereas "San Francisco" and not being English were good enough before. Tried British Columbia in 2005 after Bush "re-stole" in 2004. Vancouver and Vernon were good but had to leave after 3 months. I could get my cousins to help with my Canadian immigration, but -- decided to come back and "fight the power." I'm a Cascadian separatist now. After spending two years blogging, sending letters to elected officials, letters to editors published -- effected no change - encountered entrenched, intransigent attitudes. My stance as a secessionist is untenable but emotionally satisfying. I've stopped proselytizing (register Peace and Freedom, vote demo), returning to the arts without looking back, through reacting to politicos!
